The Significance of the Name....  and why it is upsetting when other breeders  steal it.

The name 'Rutland-Manners' derives from  "Red Haired people who live in Manors" and came down through the Duke of Rutland and Lady Diana Manners.  The ancestral home is Belvoir Castle in the United Kingdom.  The last German Shepherd Dog Beverley bred at the close of a thirty year era with this breed  was named "Rutland" and so in honor of the name  "Rutland Manor" was born.

With a strong lifetime background of dog breeding, exhibiting, training and judging dogs, Beverley Rutland-Manners was well positioned to face the many challenges that lay ahead.

In just over two decades Rutland Manor has set the bench mark to which other breeders strive to aspire.

So what has occasioned this phenomenon?

■  An unremitting dedication which has withstood the ravages of prejudice and  assaults on reputation

■  Unwavering Passion, and the courage to continue in the face of adversity

■  A Deep and abiding love for all God's Creatures including the human race

Rutland Manor practices are underpinned with a solid commitment to preserving the honor of the name.

Demonstrated Integrity

Rutland Manor was the first in the world to introduce DNA profiling of  breeding stock.

Rutland Manor was the first in the world to advocate & practice mandatory health testing for any breed or cross breed of dog

Rutland Manor's time proven methods for preparing and socializing puppies and its unique temperament testing processes have gained for it an unsurpassed reputation for matching puppies and families on an individual and caring basis.

Despite rigorous opposition from the breeders of the day, Rutland Manor recognized the future need to track pedigrees and co-founded the first registry for the Australian Labradoodle (The LAA in Australia) and founded the first global registry for the Australian Labradoodle (the ILA) from both of which Rutland Manor has since found the need to disassociate itself.

Rutland Manor Australian Labradoodles are consistently breeding true to temperament, soundness and coat quality.  Their intuitive and trainable natures are now legendary.  But to stand still in any endeavor is  to inevitably  slide backwards so continued vigilance and ongoing research continue to be key factors in the Rutland Manor breeding programs.
